Fundraising...

Our New Pre-School opened in January 2011.

We’d like to thank people and  organisations who have provided funds, committee members, parents and the community who have supported events, all those have supported our proposals to Staffordshire County Council, and others who have given us advice.

The majority of the funds have come from Staffordshire County Council. We are extremely grateful for all the people within the council who have supported our case and worked really hard to enable this to happen. We have been very lucky to be able to have significant input into the design to get a building that suits the pre-schools needs.

About £25,000 has also been raised from events and donations, thanks to committees working hard over several years. This has
been alongside their usual roles such including running the Playgroups and Inbetweenies.

Staff have done such an amazing job through all the frustrations and uncertainties of the past few years, even with the limitations
of the old building.

There are two ladies in particular I would like to thank. Lolene Poxon, the Pre-School Manger has shown a huge amount of commitment, taking on additional work on the new build as well as working with staff to make the pre-school a great place for all the children to come.

Also Sharon Harrison, who has been our chair for the past two and a half  years. She is a woman of many talents but has been particularly brilliant at drumming up support and getting people involved. More importantly, she has made everyone feel welcome and let them know that their contribution counts.

We asked Patsy Starbuck to cut the ribbon for us to officially open our Pre-School building. 38 years ago, Patsy Starbuck and her friends set up
Rolleston Playgroup, which later became Rolleston Pre-School. I think it is amazing that a parent–run organization that is such an important part of the community has not only survived, but over the years, with parents and staff  bringing their ideas and talents has developed into what we have today.
