30th October 2018
We hope you have all enjoyed the first half term of the year, all the children have settled in so well! We just wanted to let you know some of the things that will be happening next half term. We will be looking at “Autumn Celebrations” with the children. We are starting off with a fairy-tale woodland area for our role-play, looking at Bonfire night and fireworks, with lots of investigating and creative projects. Then we are going to look at Birthday celebrations with our own party table and have a special Bake-off week. We are hoping to support the charity “Operation Christmas Child” by packing shoe boxes with the children and talking about citizenship and sharing along with the local soup kitchen that is based at Derby street in Burton-on-Trent. There is a separate letter all about our charity projects but please feel free to ask staff for more details, there is a donation box near the office for any boxes you have filled or items for the soup kitchen (toiletries or tinned food).
St Mary’s Church will be holding their annual Advent festival, this year the theme is “War is over”. We will be producing artwork with the children to be displayed. We will also look at Diwali and our own Christmas celebrations ending the term with our Nativity at St Mary’s Church.
Week 1 5th – 9th November
The first week back we will be involved in fairy-tale role-play and Bonfire night celebrations. The children will be able to explore different ICT and be creative outside with our new creative workshop. Hopefully we will have lots of “magic moment leaves” from home so we can hear about the children’s holiday experiences. We will be looking at Diwali and the children will get the opportunity to learn about this celebration
Week 2 12th - 16th November
